Persian Cat Placement Policies
The information on this page is important, please read this page before contacting us with questions that may very well be answered here.
We reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone at any time.
We do NOT sell to pet shops or
other person(s) for resale.
Our Persian kittens do not leave our home until THEY are ready, which is generally between 12 and 20 weeks of age. At that time, the kittens will have been spayed or neutered, have age appropriate vaccinations, age appropriate wormings, and a clean bill of health from our veterinarian. To learn more about early spay/neuter programs.
Please understand that acquiring our bloodlines, the quality and health that we work with, as well as raising our cats, is extremely costly and time consuming. It is a 24 hour, 7 day a week job. One that we love, but still a job that requires dedication and sacrifice that only a reputable breeder knows. There is no such thing as a cheap purebred Persian kitten or Persian cat and if that is what you are looking for...
Or, if you came to us expecting to negotiate on prices like this is a used-car lot or something, we recommend you visit your local rescue or shelter, we also have a link to Persian rescues. Or, you could end up at a backyard breeder and be attracted by a little cheaper price, or perhaps a great sales pitch, or more bells and whistles. However, beware, you will pay - and it will cost you a lot more in the end than if you had gone to a reputable breeder in the first place. Why will it cost you more? Because the kitten will get sick, it will have health problems. I can guarantee it. It has happened to me, and countless others that I have spoken to over the years. Does this mean you have to get a kitten from us? NO. But do get one from a reputable breeder. There are articles on this site under our "Education" section regarding finding such breeders.
Please do not ask about a kitten as a gift for someone else unless that person knows they are getting the kitten. Getting someone a kitten as a gift is not wise unless the person on the receiving end is willing to take on a Persian as it requires a lot more care (i.e., grooming, eye wiping, etc.). Additionally, the original owner must be the one to agree to, and sign our contract / health guarantee. Contracts are to be with the original adopter / owner only. Contracts/health guarantees are not transferable to another owner.
We can also give you a referral to a reputable breeder that may have what you are looking for or you can ask to be added to our "Wait List".
Our Persian kittens are sold on a written contract with a two (2) year Health - Genetic Guarantee.
Our Persian cats and kittens receive NuVet Plus vitamin supplement. We believe so strongly in this supplement, that the continuation of our kittens receiving these supplements are a condition of sale and the health guarantee. Information on NuVet Plus.

Due to many inquiries about our Persian kittens, we can only reserve your kitten if a deposit is made. Kittens with a deposit are listed as "Reserved" on the "Available" page. Kittens that are paid-in-full are listed as "Sold" on the "Available" page.
A kitten is only designated as reserved upon our receipt of the required deposit funds. We only produce a limited number of litters each year, and this is the only way to make sure your kitten is reserved.
In order to reserve your kitten, we require a non-refundable deposit of one-half (1/2) of the stated purchase price for that kitten. The balance due on the purchase price (including any shipping or delivery costs - see Shipping/Delivery) is due and payable on or before one week (7 days) prior to the kitten leaving our home. The Contract must be read, agreed to, signed and returned to Pelaqita Persians prior to any kitten being shipped.
All deposits are non-refundable unless, for some reason, we are unable to provide you with a kitten. Therefore, make sure you read, understand, and agree to the terms of our contract before reserving a kitten and sending a deposit.
Only the following forms of payment are accepted: cash, credit cards (via PayPal), and Paypal. If you choose to use Paypal for payment, the 3% fee that PayPal charges will be added to the total cost, including any shipping/delivery. You will receive written confirmation either by e-mail or United States mail of our receipt of your payment.
PayPal payments are accepted through the PayPal site which is a secure site for such transactions. Please review PayPal's privacy policy for the types of information they may collect on its' users.
If you are within the state of Ohio, we prefer to have you come to our home to pick up your kitten as we like to meet the people that we are entrusting our babies to. If you cannot come to our home, we can make arrangements to meet you, but we will charge you for the cost of gasoline.
We only ship within the continental United States. Our kittens are shipped out of Columbus International in Ohio. We prefer to ship * Continental (800-575-3335), but they do not fly into all airports. If Continental does not service your area, we prefer to use * Northwest (800-692-2746), and * Delta (888-736-3738). The cost of shipping is approximately $300 to have your kitten shipped to you (via Continental, Northwest may be more). The shipping cost is in addition to the purchase price of the kitten. The shipping cost includes - the cost of the plane flight, crate (cat carrier), any shots that may be required by either Ohio or your state for the shipment of the kitten, veterinarian's health certificate, and a sample of the food that the kitten is currently eating. We also include a few of the kitten's favorite toys to keep it busy while traveling!
Appointments: If you have made an appointment to meet with us, please be on time. If you know you are going to be more than 15 minutes late for your appointment or can not make your appointment at all, please call us and we can reschedule your appointment. If we feel that you are not being serious about getting one of our kittens, or considerate of our time as well as other potential buyers that may have wanted an appointment with us, we reserve the right not to reschedule your appointment.
Picking Up Your Kitten: Please be sure to bring a cat carrier to safely transport your kitten home with you. If you do not have a cat carrier with you, you will risk our not letting you take your kitten or cat home with you until such time as you have obtained a cat carrier. This provision is for the safety and well-being of the kitten or cat while traveling in your vehicle.
We do not advocate the inhumane practice of de-clawing cats. Many people are unaware that when a cat is de-clawed that means the veterinarian does a surgery in which not only is the cat's nail surgically removed, but also includes the first joint of each of the cat's toes. Furthermore, studies indicate that de-clawing a cat over the age of one year can result in psychological problems in the cat such as not using its litter box, marking its territory, aggression, and fighting.
We strongly urge all owners of their cats to pursue all other available alternatives before making the decision to de-claw a cat.
Soft Paws - for a safe alternative to de-clawing. We use and advocate Soft Paws. They are simple to use and very effective at preventing damage to your furniture, curtains, and other household goods.
We have developed a fairly extensive packet that contains photos, pedigree, food sample, articles on care and grooming, and more. Our Persian Cat Placement Package.
