Buying A Registered Persian
When purchasing a registered Persian kitten, you can expect to pay more than one that is not registered. A pedigreed Persian kitten is an investment, so it is important to do your homework. Consider Persian kittens for sale from responsible cat breeders who normally offer: a health guarantee, the kittens have had age-appropriate vaccinations/wormings, and the kittens have seen (at a minimum one time) by their veterinarian. A responsible breeder will also have the paperwork for registering the kitten in your name. For further information about finding a responsible Persian breeder, please read our article "How to Select a Good Persian Breeder".
Registration Terms to Know
Pedigree: Family trees that show lineage going back from three to six generations of your Persian kitten. A pedigree shows the registered names of all the cats, coat colors, date of birth and any champion titles earned.
Registries: Organizations that give a written history of the Persian kitten for sale in a pedigree form. A registration is a document representing your Persian kitten's lineage. The registration papers are given to the buyer from the Persian cat breeder. The buyer then sends the paper off to the registry along with a small registration fee and in return receives a registration paper for their new Persian kitten that will now reflect them as the owner of their Persian kitten.
Registered Kitten: A registered Persian kitten has a documented pedigree in a recognized cat breed from a cat registry.
Purebred: This is a Persian cat whose bloodline has not been diluted by other breeds or randomly bred cats.
